His wrath is not a contradiction of His character\u2014it is an expression of His purity.<\/p>\n<p>And because of sin, <strong>we became enemies of God<\/strong>. Our relationship with Him was shattered. We didn&#8217;t just break His law\u2014we broke His heart, rebelled against His kingship, and positioned ourselves in opposition to Him.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>&#8220;The carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (Romans 8:7)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cThe fear of the Lord is to hate evil&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (Proverbs 8:13)<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<h5>b. It is especially kindled by <strong>idolatry, sexual immorality, injustice, and the oppression of the helpless<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<h5>c. God\u2019s Anger Is Just and Righteous<\/h5>\n<p>God\u2019s wrath is not like man\u2019s wrath. <strong>It is measured, holy, and fair<\/strong>\u2014never impulsive, never tainted by sin.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cShall not the Judge of all the earth do right?\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (Genesis 18:25)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><br \/><strong><em>\u201cThe Lord is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (Psalm 145:17)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is why God often delays judgment. His anger is not fueled by frustration\u2014it is driven by truth and justice. <strong>He is slow to anger<\/strong>\u2014but <strong>when it comes, it is well-deserved and complete<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cThe Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (Nahum 1:3)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>God is not quick to punish. He is longsuffering and patient, giving people room to repent. But if they persist, His anger will fall\u2014<strong>not as an emotional outburst, but as a holy and righteous judgment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<h5>d. God\u2019s Anger Is Intensified by Repeated Rejection<\/h5>\n<p>The more a person or a nation rejects God&#8217;s invitation to repentance, the <strong>more serious and severe His anger becomes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cBut they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (2 Chronicles 36:16)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cBecause I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded&#8230; I also will laugh at your calamity.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (Proverbs 1:24\u201326)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Romans 2 builds on this further:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u201cBut in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (Romans 2:5)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Persistent rebellion and the hardening of the heart only invite greater judgment.<\/strong> God is not mocked. Is God Angry at Sin or at Sinners?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"600\">Let\u2019s begin with a bold and honest statement:<br data-start=\"377\" data-end=\"380\" \/><strong data-start=\"380\" data-end=\"478\">You will never find the phrase \u201cGod hates the sin but loves the sinner\u201d anywhere in the Bible.<\/strong><br data-start=\"478\" data-end=\"481\" \/>It sounds comforting, and it&#8217;s often repeated in sermons and casual conversations. But the truth is\u2014it\u2019s not in the\u00a0 Scriptures.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"602\" data-end=\"910\">This phrase, that encourages tolerance, was popularized by several religious thinkers and writers throughout history, but one of the most recent and widely quoted sources was <strong data-start=\"749\" data-end=\"767\">Mahatma Gandhi<\/strong>. While the intention behind the phrase may seem noble, it misrepresents <strong data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"910\">the full weight of what the Bible actually says about God&#8217;s wrath.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"1149\">While it is true that <strong data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"951\">God hates sin<\/strong>, the Bible is also explicit that <strong data-start=\"985\" data-end=\"1036\">God\u2019s wrath is not just abstract\u2014it is personal<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1037\" data-end=\"1040\" \/><strong data-start=\"1040\" data-end=\"1149\">His anger is not only directed at the acts of sin, but at the persons who commit them\u2014unless they repent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1156\" data-end=\"1216\">\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h5 data-start=\"1156\" data-end=\"1216\">a. Verses Where God\u2019s Anger Targets Sinners Directly<\/h5>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1324\">These Scriptures make it crystal clear that God\u2019s judgment is directed toward people\u2014not just their deeds.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1326\" data-end=\"2055\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1326\" data-end=\"1481\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1481\"><strong data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1341\">Psalm 5:5<\/strong><br data-start=\"1341\" data-end=\"1344\" \/><em data-start=\"1346\" data-end=\"1431\"><strong data-start=\"1347\" data-end=\"1430\">\u201cThe boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1483\" data-end=\"1603\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1485\" data-end=\"1603\"><strong data-start=\"1485\" data-end=\"1499\">Psalm 11:5<\/strong><br data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1502\" \/><em data-start=\"1504\" data-end=\"1603\"><strong data-start=\"1505\" data-end=\"1602\">\u201cThe Lord tests the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1605\" data-end=\"1751\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1607\" data-end=\"1751\"><strong data-start=\"1607\" data-end=\"1621\">Hosea 9:15<\/strong><br data-start=\"1621\" data-end=\"1624\" \/><em data-start=\"1626\" data-end=\"1751\"><strong data-start=\"1627\" data-end=\"1750\">\u201cFor there I hated them. Because of the evil of their deeds I will drive them from My house; I will love them no more.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1753\" data-end=\"1938\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1938\"><strong data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1768\">John 3:36<\/strong><br data-start=\"1768\" data-end=\"1771\" \/><em data-start=\"1773\" data-end=\"1868\"><strong data-start=\"1774\" data-end=\"1867\">\u201cHe who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1940\" data-end=\"2055\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1942\" data-end=\"2055\"><strong data-start=\"1942\" data-end=\"1962\">Revelation 20:15<\/strong><br data-start=\"1962\" data-end=\"1965\" \/><em data-start=\"1967\" data-end=\"2055\"><strong data-start=\"1968\" data-end=\"2054\">\u201cAnd anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2057\" data-end=\"2088\">Let\u2019s pause on that last one: <strong data-start=\"2091\" data-end=\"2148\">God throws the person, not just their sin, into hell.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2152\" data-end=\"2426\">If God were angry at sin alone and not at the sinner, then logically, He should have <strong data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2298\">thrown only the sin into the lake of fire\u2014not the person. <\/strong>But Scripture is unambiguous: <strong data-start=\"2331\" data-end=\"2426\">it is the unrepentant sinner who is judged, condemned, and cast out\u2014not just their actions. <\/strong>This truth may sound harsh, but it is biblically sound\u2014and more importantly, it makes the Gospel all the more urgent and beautiful.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2566\" data-end=\"2620\">\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h5 data-start=\"2566\" data-end=\"2620\">b. But God Loves You, Even If You Are a Sinner<\/h5>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2622\" data-end=\"2824\">This is the <strong data-start=\"2634\" data-end=\"2708\">correct way to describe God&#8217;s love in light of His holiness and wrath.<\/strong> Yes, <strong data-start=\"2714\" data-end=\"2741\">God is angry at sinners<\/strong>, but it is also true that <strong data-start=\"2768\" data-end=\"2824\">God loves sinners\u2014even while they are still sinners.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2622\" data-end=\"2824\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"2828\" data-end=\"2950\"><em data-start=\"2828\" data-end=\"2937\"><strong data-start=\"2829\" data-end=\"2936\">\u201cBut God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (Romans 5:8)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2828\" data-end=\"2950\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2952\" data-end=\"3135\">This is why understanding God\u2019s attributes is crucial. God is not divided. He does not stop being holy so He can be loving. Nor does He suspend His justice in order to show mercy.<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3137\" data-end=\"3386\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3137\" data-end=\"3186\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3139\" data-end=\"3186\"><strong data-start=\"3139\" data-end=\"3158\">In His holiness<\/strong>, God cannot tolerate sin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3187\" data-end=\"3230\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3189\" data-end=\"3230\"><strong data-start=\"3189\" data-end=\"3207\">In His justice<\/strong>, He must punish sin.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3231\" data-end=\"3282\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3233\" data-end=\"3282\"><strong data-start=\"3233\" data-end=\"3248\">In His love<\/strong>, He desires to save the sinner.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3283\" data-end=\"3327\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3285\" data-end=\"3327\"><strong data-start=\"3285\" data-end=\"3301\">In His mercy<\/strong>, He offers forgiveness.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3328\" data-end=\"3386\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3330\" data-end=\"3386\"><strong data-start=\"3330\" data-end=\"3346\">In His grace<\/strong>, He gives salvation to the undeserving.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3388\" data-end=\"3606\">Sin, at its core, is the <strong data-start=\"3413\" data-end=\"3464\">exercise of one\u2019s free will in rejection of God<\/strong>\u2014a deliberate turning away that leads to evil deeds and unrighteous living. That is what provokes His wrath. Reconciliation is possible.<\/strong> But only if you repent and believe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1633\" data-end=\"1657\">So, is God angry at you?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1659\" data-end=\"1910\"><strong data-start=\"1659\" data-end=\"1748\">If you continue to reject Him\u2014yes. But if you turn to Him in repentance and faith\u2014no. <\/strong>You will find mercy. You will find grace. But thank God, <strong data-start=\"534\" data-end=\"570\">that\u2019s not where the story ends. <\/strong>The Lord Jesus said:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"319\" data-end=\"570\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"766\"><em data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"753\"><strong data-start=\"597\" data-end=\"752\">\u201cThe thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (John 10:10)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"766\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"941\">Jesus came to give us life\u2014not just life beyond the grave, but <strong data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"859\">a new life here and now. <\/strong>A life of purpose. A life of peace. A life reconciled with the God who made us. To the unbelievers, <strong data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"985\">God is not silent. <\/strong>He keeps calling. Through the Holy Spirit. Through the preaching of His Word. Through every Gospel witness sent into your path.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1121\" data-end=\"1235\">And when sin is finally addressed\u2014when it is repented of and laid at the foot of the cross\u2014<strong data-start=\"1212\" data-end=\"1235\">everything changes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1411\">You receive <strong data-start=\"1249\" data-end=\"1265\">eternal life<\/strong> (John 3:16).<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1411\">You are given the <strong data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1333\">right to become a child of God<\/strong> (John 1:12).<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1411\">You are no longer in darkness\u2014<strong data-start=\"1379\" data-end=\"1410\">you become a child of light<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-start=\"1415\" data-end=\"1528\"><em data-start=\"1415\" data-end=\"1512\"><strong data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"1511\">\u201cFor you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (Ephesians 5:8)<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1415\" data-end=\"1528\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1530\" data-end=\"1718\">You are forgiven.
