These were not man-made traditions, but sacred acts given directly by the Lord Himself \u2014 <strong data-start=\"453\" data-end=\"536\">and each carries with it its respective importance in the life of the believers<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"537\" data-end=\"540\" \/>As followers of Christ, we partake in Communion to obey His command, to remember His sacrifice, to proclaim our hope, and to unite as one body in faith and love.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f9233c2 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"f9233c2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-26ba562 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"26ba562\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 data-start=\"703\" data-end=\"729\">1. What Is Communion?<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"783\"><strong data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"783\">Communion is an ordinance given by the Lord Jesus. It<\/strong><strong data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"942\">\u00a0is a sacred act where believers gather to partake of bread and the cup, in obedience to Jesus&#8217; command, to remember His sacrifice on the cross.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"783\"><br data-start=\"942\" data-end=\"945\" \/>It is a time of reverent reflection, thanksgiving, fellowship, and proclamation of the Lord&#8217;s death and resurrection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1064\" data-end=\"1081\">During Communion:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1231\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1082\" data-end=\"1141\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1084\" data-end=\"1141\">We take the <strong data-start=\"1096\" data-end=\"1105\">bread<\/strong>, symbolizing His body given for us.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1142\" data-end=\"1231\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1144\" data-end=\"1231\">We drink the <strong data-start=\"1157\" data-end=\"1164\">cup<\/strong>, symbolizing His blood poured out for the forgiveness of our sins.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1291\">Jesus Himself instituted Communion during the Last Supper:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1662\"><strong data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1446\"><em data-start=\"1295\" data-end=\"1444\">&#8220;And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, &#8216;This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.'&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"1448\" data-end=\"1462\">Luke 22:19<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1662\"><br data-start=\"1463\" data-end=\"1466\" \/><strong data-start=\"1466\" data-end=\"1636\"><em data-start=\"1468\" data-end=\"1634\">&#8220;In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, &#8216;This cup is the new covenant in My blood. The Purpose of Communion<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1784\" data-end=\"1835\"><strong data-start=\"1784\" data-end=\"1835\">In Remembrance of Him, Together with the Church<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1837\" data-end=\"2029\">The primary purpose of Communion is to <strong data-start=\"1876\" data-end=\"1912\">remember the sacrifice of Christ<\/strong> \u2014 but not in isolation.<br data-start=\"1936\" data-end=\"1939\" \/>Jesus desires that we remember Him <strong data-start=\"1974\" data-end=\"1998\">together as His body<\/strong>, united in one faith and hope.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2031\" data-end=\"2151\"><strong data-start=\"2031\" data-end=\"2125\"><em data-start=\"2033\" data-end=\"2123\">&#8220;For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"2127\" data-end=\"2150\">1 Corinthians 10:17<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2153\" data-end=\"2326\">While personal fellowship with the Lord is essential, Communion highlights that we are <strong data-start=\"2240\" data-end=\"2254\">one Church<\/strong>, redeemed and brought together through Christ&#8217;s death and resurrection.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-52bf4a5 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"52bf4a5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3c8adf1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3c8adf1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 data-start=\"2328\" data-end=\"2365\">3. Why Do We Partake in Communion?<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5 data-start=\"2367\" data-end=\"2409\">a. To Remember the Sacrifice of Christ<\/h5>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2410\" data-end=\"2525\">When we partake, we deliberately recall the price Jesus paid \u2014 His body broken, His blood shed \u2014 for our salvation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2527\" data-end=\"2660\"><strong data-start=\"2527\" data-end=\"2634\"><em data-start=\"2529\" data-end=\"2632\">&#8220;For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord\u2019s death till He comes.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"2636\" data-end=\"2659\">1 Corinthians 11:26<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2765\" data-end=\"2883\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5 data-start=\"2885\" data-end=\"2912\">b. To Proclaim Our Hope<\/h5>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2913\" data-end=\"2989\">Because Jesus offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sins \u2014 as prophesied:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2991\" data-end=\"3173\"><strong data-start=\"2991\" data-end=\"3155\"><em data-start=\"2993\" data-end=\"3153\">&#8220;But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"3157\" data-end=\"3172\">Isaiah 53:5<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3175\" data-end=\"3262\">\u2014 we now have forgiveness and reconciliation with God.<br data-start=\"3229\" data-end=\"3232\" \/>Thus, <strong data-start=\"3238\" data-end=\"3259\">our hope is alive<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3263\" data-end=\"3369\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3263\" data-end=\"3322\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3265\" data-end=\"3322\">The forgiveness of sins is ours through Jesus&#8217; sacrifice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3323\" data-end=\"3369\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3325\" data-end=\"3369\">Eternal life is promised to all who believe.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3371\" data-end=\"3443\">Through Communion, we boldly proclaim this living hope rooted in Christ.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d7534ac elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"d7534ac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a345f19 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a345f19\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 data-start=\"3445\" data-end=\"3476\">4. Elements of the Communion<\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"3478\" data-end=\"3491\">The Bread<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3492\" data-end=\"3685\">The bread represents the body of Jesus, given for us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3492\" data-end=\"3685\"><br data-start=\"3545\" data-end=\"3548\" \/>In the Old Testament, <strong data-start=\"3570\" data-end=\"3590\">unleavened bread<\/strong> was commanded during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, symbolizing purity and the absence of sin.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3687\" data-end=\"3815\"><strong data-start=\"3687\" data-end=\"3796\"><em data-start=\"3689\" data-end=\"3794\">&#8220;Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"3798\" data-end=\"3814\">Exodus 12:15<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3817\" data-end=\"3949\">Leaven (yeast) often symbolized corruption or sin. Jesus, being sinless, is represented by unleavened bread \u2014 pure, without blemish.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3951\" data-end=\"3998\"><strong data-start=\"3951\" data-end=\"3982\"><em data-start=\"3953\" data-end=\"3980\">&#8220;I am the bread of life.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"3984\" data-end=\"3997\">John 6:48<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4000\" data-end=\"4074\">Moreover, as believers, we are part of this one body \u2014 the body of Christ:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4076\" data-end=\"4196\"><strong data-start=\"4076\" data-end=\"4170\"><em data-start=\"4078\" data-end=\"4168\">&#8220;For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"4172\" data-end=\"4195\">1 Corinthians 10:17<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"4198\" data-end=\"4210\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"4198\" data-end=\"4210\">The Wine<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4211\" data-end=\"4297\">The cup symbolizes the precious blood of Jesus poured out for the forgiveness of sins:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4299\" data-end=\"4492\"><strong data-start=\"4299\" data-end=\"4394\"><em data-start=\"4301\" data-end=\"4392\">&#8220;This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"4396\" data-end=\"4413\">Matthew 26:28<\/strong>)<br data-start=\"4414\" data-end=\"4417\" \/><strong data-start=\"4417\" data-end=\"4473\"><em data-start=\"4419\" data-end=\"4471\">&#8220;Without shedding of blood there is no remission.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"4475\" data-end=\"4491\">Hebrews 9:22<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4494\" data-end=\"4597\">The blood of Christ is central to the New Covenant \u2014 it secured eternal redemption for all who believe.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4494\" data-end=\"4597\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4494\" data-end=\"4597\">(See also: <a href=\"https:\/\/answeringtoday.com\/why-did-jesus-have-to-die-on-the-cross\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>&#8220;Why Did Jesus Have to Die on The Cross?&#8221;<\/strong><\/a>)<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f9fc621 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"f9fc621\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-687c3a6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"687c3a6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 data-start=\"4599\" data-end=\"4640\">On the Doctrine of Transubstantiation<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4641\" data-end=\"4826\">Some teach that the bread and wine literally transform into the body and blood of Christ during Communion. However, Scripture reveals that Jesus <strong data-start=\"4788\" data-end=\"4810\">spoke symbolically<\/strong>, not literally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4828\" data-end=\"4939\">In <strong data-start=\"4831\" data-end=\"4841\">John 6<\/strong>, when Jesus spoke of eating His flesh and drinking His blood, many misunderstood and turned away:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4941\" data-end=\"5040\"><strong data-start=\"4941\" data-end=\"5024\"><em data-start=\"4943\" data-end=\"5022\">&#8220;From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> (<strong data-start=\"5026\" data-end=\"5039\">John 6:66<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"5042\" data-end=\"5298\">Jesus was not advocating literal cannibalism. He was teaching that faith in His sacrifice \u2014 His body broken, His blood poured out \u2014 is essential for eternal life.
