Everyone is a sinner, not simply because of wrong actions, but because of a heart that rejects God \u2014 yet through Jesus Christ, forgiveness and eternal life are freely offered.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When God created the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them \u2014 including mankind \u2014 the Word of God declares,<\/p>\n

\u201cThen God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 Genesis 1:31<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Everything was perfect. There was peace. There was purpose. There was paradise. But everything changed.<\/p>\n

In the Garden of Eden, the serpent deceived Eve, and Adam \u2014 with full knowledge \u2014 disobeyed God. In that moment, sin entered the world. And with sin came devastation.<\/p>\n

Man, who was created to enjoy life, was now cursed with hardship.
Man, who was designed to live forever, was now bound to die.
Man, who once walked in fellowship with his Creator, was now cast out \u2014 separated, not just from Eden, but from the presence of God Himself.<\/p>\n

And not just for a moment \u2014 but forever.<\/p>\n

\n

You see how sin destroyed man?
It didn\u2019t just stain him \u2014 it ruined him.<\/strong>
It separated him from God, from life, and from purpose.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This is why we must ask the question seriously: \u201cAm I a sinner?\u201d<\/strong>
Because the answer to that question determines not only how we see ourselves \u2014 but what kind of rescue we need.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

1. Definition of Sin<\/strong><\/h4>\n
\n

Sin is the exercise of one\u2019s free will in rejection of God.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

God gave us a wonderful gift \u2014 the gift of free will<\/strong>. Because He is a God of love, He did not create us as robots. He gave us the capacity to act by our own volition, to choose whether to love Him, obey Him, and walk with Him.<\/p>\n

But with that freedom, God also requires what He alone deserves: submission, obedience, and devotion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Let us be reminded of this sobering truth:
God has existed before man, and He will continue to exist in all His glory even without us.<\/strong>
But you \u2014 man<\/strong> \u2014 will you exist without God?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He is the source of life. He is your Creator. He is your Sustainer.<\/p>\n

“For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, \u2018For we are also His offspring.\u2019”<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 Acts 17:28<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Even the thought of Him should move us to reverence, surrender, and wholehearted obedience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Adam<\/strong>, after being deceived in the Garden, exercised his free will \u2014 but not to follow God. He rejected God\u2019s authority, His will, and His command. Take note of this<\/strong>:
Adam did not sin because<\/em> he ate the fruit.
He sinned when he chose to reject God<\/strong> and follow his own will<\/strong> instead of God\u2019s command.<\/p>\n

We see this same principle in Psalm 14:1\u20134<\/em>:<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.
The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call on the Lord?”<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 Psalm 14:1\u20134<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The reason man sins is because man rejects God. No one seeks Him. No one calls upon Him. That is the true root of sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Many critics today cry out, \u201cWhy would God punish me for such small sins for all eternity? That\u2019s not fair!\u201d<\/em><\/strong>
But listen carefully:<\/p>\n

\n

God will not punish us for a few small sins \u2014 He will judge us for our ongoing, willful rejection of Him<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Our sins and our unrepentant hearts are the evidence of that rejection. This is why, when the Lord Jesus began His ministry, His very first sermon was:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cRepent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!\u201d<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 Matthew 4:17<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Repentance<\/strong> is not merely changing behavior \u2014 it is making a firm decision to return to God<\/strong> and stop rejecting Him<\/strong> in your life. It is a full surrender. It is saying, \u201cGod, You are my God. Jesus, You are my Lord.\u201d <\/em><\/strong>That is repentance.

Disobedience is just the outward manifestation<\/strong> of something deeper: the inner rejection of God<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So let me ask you: Where is God in your life right now?<\/strong>
Is God your God \u2014 or have you made your own desires your god?
Is Jesus truly your Lord and Master \u2014 or are you still on the throne?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

2. How We Commit Sin<\/strong><\/h4>\n

If sin is the rejection of God, then how do we \u2014 as individuals \u2014 commit sin in our daily lives? The Bible shows us that sin enters and operates in the human experience in several distinct ways. Let us walk through them one by one.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/h3>\n

a. We Inherit Sin (Original Sin)<\/strong><\/h5>\n

From the very beginning, sin entered the world through the choice of one man \u2014 Adam.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 Romans 5:12<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

When Adam rejected God in the Garden, the entire human race fell with him. We did not inherit guilt for his specific act, but we inherited a sinful nature<\/strong> \u2014 a natural tendency to reject God, to disobey Him, and to seek our own way.<\/p>\n

This is why we don\u2019t have to teach children how to lie, rebel, or be selfish. These things are deeply rooted in our fallen nature \u2014 we were born sinners<\/strong>, and we sin because we are<\/em> sinners.<\/p>\n

Before we ever commit a sinful act, the seed of sin is already within us.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/h3>\n
b. By Doing What Is Wrong (Sins of Commission)<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Sin shows up when we knowingly break God\u2019s commands.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 1 John 3:4<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

When we lie, steal, curse, hate, lust, or rebel \u2014 we are not just breaking rules. We are rejecting God\u2019s holiness and choosing corruption instead of righteousness. These outward actions are the visible fruit<\/strong> of a heart that is not surrendered to God.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/h3>\n
c. By Failing to Do What Is Right (Sins of Omission)<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Sin isn\u2019t only about what we do \u2014 it\u2019s also about what we refuse<\/strong> to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 James 4:17<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

When we ignore someone in need, remain silent when we should speak the truth, or avoid the prompting of the Holy Spirit, we commit sin by omission. We reject God’s call to do good \u2014 and that rejection is sin in His eyes.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/h3>\n
d. By Acting Without Faith (Sin Against Conscience)<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Even if an act seems \u201cokay\u201d on the surface, it can still be sin if we do it without faith or against our conscience.<\/p>\n

\u201c…for whatever is not from faith is sin.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 Romans 14:23<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

When we doubt and act anyway, or when we conform to pressure while knowing better, we are not trusting in God \u2014 we are following our fears, our doubts, or the approval of others. When we do things against the conviction of God, we sin. This, too, is rejection of God\u2019s lordship.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/h3>\n
e. By Harboring Sinful Thoughts and Desires<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Jesus taught that sin begins not with the hand, but with the heart.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.\u201d<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 Matthew 5:28<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sinful desires, though unseen by others, are fully visible to God. Pride, bitterness, jealousy, and lust are not just temptations \u2014 when entertained and cherished, they are sin.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Before we move on, let\u2019s pause and reflect.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

These are not abstract theological categories \u2014 these are real, practical expressions of sin that reveal our rejection of God<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
